What is Telehealth.

Telehealth refers to a videoconference consultation involving communication between you and your clinician using both a video and audio connection. This is similar to connecting with family, friends or business contacts using programs such as FaceTime or Zoom. Some providers will require you to download special software.

Do I Require a GP referral or MHCP?

Referrals are not required unless you are claiming rebates from medicare, health funds, employee assistance, or disability insurance.

Why are these changes being made?

The new temporary MBS telehealth items will allow people to access essential Medicare funded health services remotely and reduce their risk of exposure to COVID-19.  Videoconference services are the preferred approach for substituting a face-to-face consultation. However, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, providers will also be able to offer audio-only services via telephone if video is not available. There are separate items available for the audio-only services.

How do I get a Mental Health Care Plan?

Visit your GP and ask them for a referral to Dr Jennifer Mitchell. Describe the issues and they’ll give you a referral to see us.

What happens if I don't want to see my GP?

We recommend you try your best to see a GP. If you cant see a GP, you can visit us without a Medicare Care Plan. You can discuss fees when you call us.

What program do you use for Telehealth?

Clients will be emailed a meeting request to their email address on file, follow the instructions sent via email. Clients are required to download and use the free video software from Zoom.us via this link. Zoom can be used in several browsers on operating systems including Windows and Mac, and works across various tablet and mobile devices. Zoom offers multi-layer security with AES-256 end-to-end encryption.
